Easy Spring Door Hanger Tutorial
Hello everyone! Well, it’s been a beautiful Spring in Maryland despite the pandemic that we’re experiencing right now throughout our country and world. I’m learning to find joy in little things and so I’ve been adding spring touches around my home - using things that I already have.
Many of you know that I’m all about making a good first impression. One of the first things people see when they come to our homes is our front door so that is why I’m excited to share with you an easy tutorial on how you can make a door hanger that enhances your doorway with beautiful Spring vibes.
Here is what you’ll need:
Door Hanger or Basket
I found this one at Big Lots but there are so many places that have beautiful styles of hangers. Here are a few of my other favorites: rattan basket, wire baskets, modern black, rattan basket (larger), pear rattan basket.
Foam, Wire Cutter, Knife
I’m using wet foam for this project because I didn’t have any other foam on hand. If you have regular foam, you can also use this. If you don’t have foam…you can try using plastic bags wadded up with a few stones in between (to keep the bags from blowing away) and stick those in the bottom of your planter. I’ve done this before and even though it’s not the best method…it works!
Faux Greenery and Flowers
I went around my home to find these in my Spring storage bin. Here are the sources for my greenery: Olive Branches, Ferns, Faux Pink Tulips
Here are the steps to put the arrangement together:
1. Cut foam to fit into your hanger/basket and place it inside so that it fits snugly.
Cut branches using wire cutter.
Place branches into foam.
I like to place the largest greenery into the back of the hanger. This helps create a backdrop of greenery for the arrangement.
Keep tucking greenery into foam and then add flowers.
Enjoy! So inviting and gives an entryway a great first impression!
Here are a few more shots of my porch.
I love mixing different styles of planters to create an eclectic look. You will notice that on my porch I have added a wire planter (one that is higher), a bamboo planter (for added color/texture), a blue ceramic planter and a black planter. All of these tie together with the pansies that I’ve planted in them.
I hope this brings a smile to your face today. Stay safe and healthy, friends!
Sending hugs from afar….
