5 Simple Ways to Give your Home a Winter Refresh!
/Hello friends!
I hope you are doing well and staying warm wherever you live. It has been a mild winter in Maryland - which has been so nice! However, I do realize it could change tomorrow though! Speaking of winter…I thought I would share with you some of my favorite items to use as I refresh my winter decor.
If you’re like me, sometimes the winter months can be a bit dreary. I have found that changing up a few things in my spaces - using things that I already have - help to perk me up. It’s amazing how much our home can affect our attitude. When our home is bright and clean - we tend to have more joy and peace.
So here are a few of my favorite things to move around during this season. You will notice that all five of these items are in many of the pictures that you’ll see below!
- Change up Rugs
Switching out a rug is such a great way to brighten up a room. In my Living Room, I’ve layered a white rug over a jute rug. A simple refresh!

2. Exchange Blankets
I’m sure you’re saying to yourself right about now…I knew she was going to say this! I can’t help it! Blankets are such an easy way to refresh a space and they are fun to style. (Read this post about ways to style blankets.) They are the perfect winter accessory - so move them around and use them in your decor!

3. Add in Greenery
Yep! You also must have known that I would mention this, too! Greenery - whether it be fresh or faux, adds an element of life to any space.

4. Lights
I am all about adding soft lighting found in lamps around my spaces. A lamp adds warmth into a room that is not harsh on the eyes (compared to overhead lighting). I recently received this gorgeous floor lamp from Brightech. It’s an LED light (called Sphero) - which is perfect to place in a corner and adds the right amount of light to a space. I also love the mid-century modern look of it with the two globes.

5. Last but not least…decorate with candles!
Candles are a perfect winter styling accessory because they add a glow and scent that refreshes a space. I found this candle at Homegoods and it has become my new favorite! I love that it’s white and that it has such an intricate design on the glass. I move it from room to room all of the time! I think I may keep it and turn it into a vase for flowers after I’m done burning it. (See the blog post where I recycle candle jars here.)
