Creating a Minimalistic Gallery Wall with Desenio

Hello friends!

Today, is all about gallery walls! Gallery walls are basically walls that hold a collection of items. Many people style these with family momentos, artwork and/or pictures. They can be fun and eclectic and they often showcase one’s personality.

If you’re like me - it can be overwhelming to think of how to turn a blank wall into a cohesive statement wall.

First off….where do I start? What size of pictures should I place on my wall and how many? What layout should I do? Can I mix and match pictures and colors?

Well, if you’ve had these same questions…I can't wait to share with you an easy way to create a gallery wall with Desenio! This company focuses on creating beautiful wall art with high quality posters and frames. Their artwork is not only beautiful but affordable, too!

And…if you need ideas for styling this artwork, Desenio has you covered! On their website, they give you tips on how to style your walls and what type of pictures work together. I found this VERY helpful when I decided to do mine!

In this post, I’ll give you step by step instructions on how I created my minimalistic wall - in hopes that it will help you, too!

Let me show you the wall that I’m working on…..

Since we now live in Florida, I knew that I wanted a minimalistic, serene wall that was filled with beach pictures. My main goalto create a coastal vibe without too much clutter. I also wanted several shapes of pictures - all in a soft color palette. So, after doing some measuring and researching things on the Desenio website…this is the size of pictures that I came up with!

I chose natural wood frames in these sizes:

  1. 27 1/2” x 39 3/8” (Largest one)

  2. 19 5/8” x 21 1/2” (Two of these)

  3. 12 3/4” x 10 3/4” (Two of these)

Note: The posters come rolled up in this tube - which protects them from getting damaged.

Here is the process I used to begin placing them on the wall.

  1. Grab supplies to make templates of the frame sizes.

You will need: a roll of craft paper, scissors, painter’s tape, and a pen.

2. Tape down the paper and then place your frames over the paper.

3. Draw around the frame and cut them to form a template.

4. Measure the middle of your wall and mark it. This will help when placing templates on the wall.

5. Tape templates onto the wall. I am a visual person - so having these templates helped me to picture how it would look on my wall. Also, having a template makes it easy to move around so they are in the exact place you want them prior to putting a nail in the wall!

6. Put posters in frames. Once you have the pictures where you want them, you can begin to assemble your poster/pictures and place them on the wall!

Putting these pictures together was super easy and I love that the plastic on the frame came with a protective covering.

7. Measure down on the frame (to where the wall hanging is) and mark your template in this same spot.

8. Add screws, nails or picture hangers to wall. We used screws however, the frames are light enough that a nail will work to hold them, too.

9. Hang your pictures! Yay!

Are you ready for the BIG reveal!
