Decorating with Greenery
/Happy Spring, friends!
With longer days of sunlight and warmer days coming, now is the perfect time to add touches of spring to your home. However, instead of going out and spending lots of money on springy items such as bunnies and eggs (there's nothing wrong with these items...I love bunnies!), I want to encourage you to simply add some greenery to your spaces. Decorating with greenery is timeless meaning that it will never go out of style. Greenery can also be used during each season of decorating...which makes greenery one of the best investments there is in decorating!
If you follow me on IG, you will notice that I enjoy decorating with plants. I am a farmer's daughter (born and raised in Nebraska) but that DOES NOT mean that I am good with plants! In fact, I have lost many a plant in my lifetime to either over watering or under watering or just plain neglect. (Shhh....don't tell my father that I'm not living up to my "Farmer's Daughter" name! ha)
Plant care will have to be the topic on another post, but for now - in honor of spring - I want to focus on simple ways to decorate with greenery using plants, succulents, flowers and stems....fresh or faux!
Dining Room ideas:
Place a plant (real or faux) in a box, in a metal bucket, in a jar, or even in a wicker basket.
I found this Fiddle Leaf plant at Lowe's. I quickly snagged it as soon as I found it since I have been on the hunt for one of these for awhile now. I love the large fig leaves that it produces which is the perfect accent for any corner!
Place flowers in several vases to expand the greenery along your table.
Kitchen ideas:
In my kitchen, I've used faux green wreaths and tied them to the backs of these chairs. I also use an iron planter to bring the greenery higher.
Whether it's a box with flowers or faux stems, you will notice that touches of green throughout your home will brighten it up.
Place a potted plant on your counter to add some color for spring!
I've attached faux green stems along the top of this metal board to add character and color.
Living Room ideas:
In our living room, I tied moss wreaths to these mirrors and placed real plants in corners or this room. I also clipped some of the greenery from our bushes in front of our house and placed them in milk glass vases.
You may notice many of the same plants from room to room. I will often purchase several of the same kind or sometimes I will shuffle them around from room to room, too! :-)
Bedroom ideas:
A potted plant in the corner makes for a great statement piece. I purchased this Travellers Palm from Home Depot several years ago and it has flourished in each sunny corner that I place it in.
A simple pot of lavender (from Trader Joe's) makes for not only a pretty splash of color but it smells good, too!
Shelves or table ideas:
I used both real and faux succulents to decorate this desk. Can you tell which ones are real and which ones are not? :-)
Simple faux fern leaves in a glass jar make an easy, elegant arrangement.
This little box has been one of my favorite purchases. I found it at a barn sale in our area. I cleaned it and have placed it all around my house with different types of greenery. If you look back at my pictures, you will see it has housed many different types of greenery this Spring!
Thanks so much for stopping by, friends. I hope this has inspired you to add touches of greenery throughout your home this Spring!
Happy decorating with greenery -
